Brian Brown documents the social,
cultural, and historical past of our American South, its disappearing social
and cultural monuments, which are the archeology of Southern life. Deftly and lovingly
Brian has endeavored to capture the remains of a bygone era, left to the
memories of the old. You can almost see the people and the toil of daily life
in his photographs and he never misses the crumbling remnants of a Southern
gentry and aristocracy. These photographs are important documents of our
American common heritage. -Don Noyes-More Ph.D.

Increasingly studied, Southern religion is traditionally defined as evangelical
Protestantism as expressed by Baptists, Methodists, and Presbyterians. Numerous modern studies have moved beyond this
homogeneity to find diverse expressions in terms of Roman Catholicism, smaller faith groups, folk religion, and broader spirituality.
