CHRISTIAN MARTINEZ
The People's Publisher
SON OF THE AMERICAN DREAM
Christian Martinez is one of four sons and a daughter born to immigrant parents. Christian's
father Crescencio, came as an "illegal" immigrant worker in 1946 from Central Mexico, later sending for his wife Estela and
son Roberto to follow him.
In 1964 the family bought a home in Cypress Park, which at the time was an old Italian working class neighborhood.
There over the years were born, sons Rene, Adrian, Christian, and daughter "Baby".
Christian's father worked at the Sheraton Hotel as room service/restaurant wait staff manager for years, and on the
side sold homemade carnitas, tacos, and beer to workers in and around Downtown LA, as so many have over the years. Christian's
mother has always been a traditional and religious mother.
Soon after being granted "permanent alien residence" Crescencio and Estela became American citizens.
Christian's father sent him to private Catholic schools avoiding the LA School District which offered so little in
the way of quality education. Christian has a BA in Business/finance.
Christian is President & CEO of Hollywood Media One, an advertising agency. He has as well been in the banking/finance
space for over 20 years and specializes in private and boutique banking. Christian has been recognized and awarded for his
excellence in banking and as publisher of Downtown LA Life Magazine. Christian's passion and avocation is art. He's
a dedicated stained glass artist and has done many large projects in this medium.
