Steven Hammond was born in Pontiac Michigan of a working class family with traditional
hard-working American values and pursuits. He has worked for General Motors for
25 years as a U.A.W worker and was laid off along with thousands of
other autoworkers. He has recently returned to GM but in a much more difficult job. These troubling times have led Steven
to develop his
amazing talent even more with continued vigor and creativity. First
inspiring his paintings were the works of Vincent Van Gogh; touching a deep emotional
tone in his artwork. His art is strong, visually high impact with a
wonderful color palate and use of texture for an emphasis on the dramatic. Steven
is a US Navy veteran, following the route of so many young American men
of his generation.
It
is indeed a pleasure and honor to present to you one of the most interesting and collectable American Heartland worker-painters.
